Real Wedding Spotlight: A Classic Wedding Day Look for a Modern Wedding Couple

In an age where wedding trends can change with the seasons, Jack and Ally chose to celebrate their love with a day rooted in timeless, sophisticated elegance, while injecting personal touches that made the event distinctly their own. Set against the lush, natural backdrop of The Gardens of Castle Rock, this celebration was the perfect marriage of classic romance and modern charm.

Allie & Jack’s beautiful wedding celebration masterfully blended timeless romance with contemporary, personal flair, perfectly befitting a modern couple. As the bride, Allie epitomized classic elegance in her white organza bridal gown, which featured a dramatic trumpet silhouette softened by an ethereal floral and leaf tulle overlay. Paired with a sweeping tulle cathedral-length veil, she chose a delicate bouquet of pastel pink and white roses, that looked utterly timeless. The bridal party continued the soft, romantic palette, with bridesmaids dressed in pale blue with smaller bouquets similar to Allie’s. Jack and his groomsmen maintained a sophisticated standard in sharp tuxedos, while the couple’s beloved dog Remi stole the show as the adorable “ring bear,” with the wedding bands hooked securely to his collar—a charming and modern personalization.

The breathtaking setting of The Gardens of Castle Rock provided the perfect canvas for this elegant event. The ceremony took place in the bright and airy Lath House, offering guests an intimate space surrounded by nature. This was immediately followed by a celebration held on the patio around the Garden Pavilion and under the Wedding Reception Tent, allowing the festivities to flow seamlessly from day to night. The Wedding Reception Tent decor was a study in refined simplicity: white table linens on the round tables provided a crisp base for centerpieces of pale flowers and greenery. Overhead, the ceiling of the Wedding Reception Tent was transformed by cascading crystal pendants interspersed with lush greenery and illuminated by the soft glow of white cafe lights, creating a romantic, starry ambiance. Even the minimalistic two-tiered white cake adhered to the clean, sophisticated theme.

Hosting this memorable day at The Gardens of Castle Rock is an incredibly smart choice for couples seeking a versatile and naturally stunning backdrop. As demonstrated by Allie and Jack’s wedding, the venue offers distinct yet cohesive areas—from the structural beauty of the Lath House for the ceremony to the open air of the patio for the reception—which streamlines the guest experience. This transition allows couples to create an integrated celebration without the need for travel between events. Furthermore, the natural beauty of The Gardens means less money needs to be spent on transforming the space; the venue’s inherent elegance, coupled with a simple, sophisticated decor plan of white, pale colors, and greenery, effortlessly achieves a high-end, romantic aesthetic.

Incorporating Furry Love: Cute Ideas for Your Dog to Make Your Wedding Day Extra Special

There’s nothing like a wedding to bring families together to celebrate the joy of love. Here at The Gardens, we know how important it is to have all of your family members present on your special day – including the four-legged ones! For both you and your canine companion to have a smooth and enjoyable experience, we’ve collected a list of things to consider, as well as best practices for including your dog on your wedding day.

1) Consider The Temperament of Your Dog

Dogs, like people, all have unique personalities and temperaments. Is your dog the life of the party and always happy to meet lots of new people? Then they’re the perfect candidate to play a big role in your wedding! On the other hand, if your dog is more reserved, and isn’t a fan of strangers and new experiences, then consider including them in a more abridged capacity. While your outgoing dog might be thrilled to mingle with guests and walk down the aisle in front of everyone, that might sound like a nightmare for your shy or anxious dog. Instead of including your reserved dog in every aspect of the festivities, consider bringing them to your venue for a short period of time to include them in family photos, and then have a trusted friend or relative take them home for the remainder of your day.

3) Assign a Handler

While we are more than happy to have your dog join us on your wedding day, they cannot freely roam the property. To ensure that your pet is properly cared for during your event, we require you to assign a handler to them. A handler not only looks after your dog and tends to their needs, but also allows you peace of mind as you go about your day. At The Gardens, a handler must be over the age of 18 and be sober for the duration of time that they are looking after your dog. We also recommend that the handler not be a member of your wedding party, as members of the wedding party generally have a myriad of other responsibilities to attend to.

2) Keep the Timeline in Mind

Wedding days are a flurry of activity and excitement, and while pups should absolutely be present on your special day, not every part of the celebration is dog-friendly. For example, your dog does not need to arrive with you to the venue first thing in the morning, while you are unloading and setting up. Likewise, your dog also does not need to be present while you’re on the dance floor busting a move. The sweet spot for having your dog as a part of your wedding is generally during the middle of your celebration. Have your dog arrive just after you finish getting ready, so they can partake in all of your pictures! As guests start arriving, your dog can be a designated greeter if they’re outgoing, otherwise we recommend finding a quiet spot for them to rest until the ceremony. Following the ceremony, it’s time to bid Fido farewell. At The Gardens, we require that all dogs leave the property following the ceremony. Receptions can get hectic, and it’s not always the best atmosphere for pets. This will allow you to fully enjoy your celebration without worrying about the wellbeing of your pup.

With careful and attentive planning, having your dog with you on your wedding day will be an absolute blast for everyone involved. With all of that said, here’s some inspo for including your beloved companion on your special day…

Here’s an idea, if you have a people loving dog, consider having a sign made introducing them and allowing guests to interact. Here’s what this sign says, “Hi, My name is Kepler. I am two years old and I love people! I love to give hugs, so if you kneel in front of me, watch your face – I can’t always control where my paws go. I enjoy belly rubs, playing tug-o-war, and chewing on sticks.  I have a bag of treat here, but Mom says I will get a tummy-ache if I eat too many, so please only give me 1 per person. Thank you for being part of my parents’ big day!” Photo Credit: The Gardens of Castle Rock

Helpful Tips for Incorporating Your Dog into Your Wedding Day!

Helpful Tips for Incorporating Your Dog into Your Wedding Day!

Incorporating their four-legged friend into their wedding isn’t even a question…

When they’re part of the family… of course they’re part of the wedding! Photo by Eric Lundgren Photography

For many couples, deciding whether to incorporate their four-legged friend into their wedding isn’t even a question – it’s a must. These furry friends have a way of wiggling themselves into our hearts and carving out a significant role in our personal lives and in our relationships. Naturally then, when it comes to what we may look back on as the single most important day of our lives, many of us want Fido to be a part of it.

Excited to be part of the big day… and to have a pretty flower collar! Photo by Eric Lundgren Photography

Here is a list of important things to consider when adding a pup to your wedding!
● When choosing your venue, ask upfront about their pet policy. Oftentimes, when a venue is dog-friendly they require proof of immunizations, licensing etc. prior to the event while other venues don’t allow dogs for health or legal reasons.
● Consider your bridal party and your guests. Does anyone have severe allergies to dogs or perhaps a dog phobia? It’s always a good idea to be sensitive to those present and give people a heads up in the invitation that your four-legged friend will be a part of the festivities.

● Designate someone as your pet-handler for the day. It will work best to choose someone who enjoys dogs and is not in the bridal party, so they can give your pooch all they attention they require. Responsibilities for your handler may include providing food, water, treats for bribery and walks as needed! Vigilance is also required on the part of your handler to keep Fido from relieving himself on any plants and to keep him out of the chocolate! It’s also important to familiarize your handler with basic commands that your dog is accustomed to.

● Create a quiet retreat space at the venue where your pup can relax and recharge until it’s time for their big debut. Whether it’s a shaded outdoor nook, a nearby room at your venue where they are allowed, giving them a place to decompress helps prevent over stimulation and keeps them comfortable throughout the celebration.

Isn’t this just the best day ever!!

● Consider your dog’s temperament. How do they handle a long day? Do they do well with strangers and commotion? It’s possible that after this analysis you may choose to incorporate your pooch in more subtle ways as opposed to giving them a front and center role. Be sure to choose a role that is well-suited for your pup.

● Thinking about designating your dog as the ring bearer? It may be wise to have your pet-handler walk him down the aisle on a short leash as opposed to letting him run down the aisle on their own – unless you’re ok with a little unpredictability!
● Practice makes perfect! Practice your dog’s role over and over until it’s familiar for both of you. This will relieve much stress on your big day.
● If you decide to include your pup, make sure your flowers and plants aren’t toxic for dogs!

Flower girl and ring bearer… precious.

● Ask your pet-handler to take your pup on a pre-ceremony walk to avoid any “situations” during ceremony time.
● If your pup is dressed up for the occasion, make sure it’s a simple accessory or outfit that’s comfortable. You don’t want them tugging and chewing at their attire!

If for one reason or another you can’t incorporate your pooch into the ceremony but want to include them somehow in your special day, consider…
● Including your pup in wedding day portraits

The dogs point of view… yes that’s a GoPro on my back!

● Adding your pup’s picture to wedding announcements, invites or reception table cards or including dog-centric wedding favors for a paw-sitively special tribute to your favorite four-legged friend.
