Earthly Elegance: Chelsea & Pedro’s Lovely Natural Toned Wedding – Real Wedding Spotlight

We can all think of people whose big plans were disrupted by COVID-19. From the cancellation of a once-in-a-lifetime vacation to socially distanced graduation ceremonies, COVID-19 busted into our lives like a Big Fat Party Pooper and made us miserable. Insert your boos and hisses here.

Chelsea and Pedro are no strangers to COVID-19 and its remarkable ability to disrupt millions of important milestones over the last four years. In June 2022, a week before their wedding day, Pedro was diagnosed with COVID-19 and had to quarantine away from Chelsea. Scrambling to figure out if Pedro would be able to test negative for COVID by their scheduled wedding day, it quickly became clear, there wouldn’t be enough time and their wedding would have to reschedule. The Gardens worked with Chelsea and Pedro to move their date to June 2023. Once their new date was set, the couple reached out to their vendor team to inform them of the new date. Then they patiently waited.

Fast forward 12 months and it was finally time for Chelsea and Pedro to give this whole wedding day thing another try. The day went off without a hitch……or should we say, with a hitch, they did get married (See what I did there?).

Looking to incorporate a wedding party clad in earth tones amongst Wedding in The Woods ceremony site and Wedding Reception Tent adorned in a boho chic vibe with classic vintage details…. think cool macramé hangings and colored glass candle holders and water goblets. Thanks to The Gardens’ open catering policy, Chelsea and Pedro were able to choose a vegan caterer who provided a delicious 100% plant-based buffet…something they found important and wanted to share with their guests. The celebration continued into the night with Chelsea and Pedro enjoying all the experiences they waited so patiently for. We can’t help but wonder if their wedding day was a little sweeter and a bit more joyous as they finally tied the knot and celebrated all the adventures to come.

The Wedding In The Woods

A Whimsical Forest Wedding Ceremony Location that You’ll Want to Get Lost In.

Situated on the northwest side of The Gardens of Castle Rock in the dense foliage of the forest, The Wedding in The Woods provides a natural and intimate setting for couples looking for a secluded ceremony spot where time stands still.

At the entrance of the Wedding in The Woods sits two symmetrical heirloom white pine trees which lead to a thick grassy aisle ending at a magical boho wedding arch creating an enchanted forest feel.

Prior to a wedding venue, The Gardens of Castle Rock was a nursery. Glenn Switzer, The Gardens owner & designer, is the third generation to operate the property. When the nursery began in 1926, Glenn’s grandfather, William Switzer, primarily grew and sold tree stock that were used for shelter belts. Shelter belts are lines of trees surrounding farmsteads that protect the farm from the strong winds that blow across the open fields. The area that is now The Wedding in The Woods, was once the growing area for the tree stock. In fact, you can still find plenty of remnants of these trees throughout the ceremony site…..some are almost 100 years old.

Rustic Refined : One of the Most Popular Wedding Styles

Handcrafted elements with personal touches…

Rustic Refined: it’s one of the most popular wedding styles we’re seeing at The Gardens of Castle Rock, especially in our weathered-wood Lath House. The drama of bare wood and Mason jars contrast with mismatched china and silver chandeliers, appealing to the maker sensibilities of today’s brides and grooms. This style invites handcrafted elements along with personal touches, like incorporating Grandma’s tea set or wooden fruit crates from the family farm.

When designing your rustic wedding, think texture. Drape weathered, distressed wood with ivory lace or ribbons in faded hues. Collect old mirrors with dinged frames and tarnished reflective silver. Sawn sections of logs provide elevation on the buffet table or seating around a fire pit. Paint chalkboard paint on old cabinet doors for signs. Your Rustic Refined wedding needs floral arrangements to match. 10 Tips for Planning Seating at Your Reception

There are plenty of options for reception seating plans. It’s worthwhile to understand what the traditional choices are, but there are no hard and fast rules: we advise the bride and groom to follow their instincts and make sure their seating plan, like their wedding and reception, reflects their style.

At the Gardens of Castle Rock, we’re seeing some popular trends which diverge from the traditional head table overlooking round eight-tops. While many couples are devising seating charts for their guests, many others are foregoing them, so guests find their own seats with family or friends. Parties are also embracing a variety of different table types. One particularly popular seating arrangement is the long farm-house style table.

We suggest you consider these factors when planning seating at your reception:

The larger the party, the more likely assigned seating is a good idea. It takes a long time for 200-300 people to negotiate finding seats. We recommend aiming for a balanced blend of friends and consciously selected strangers. Guests appreciate that you took the time and care to match them up with compatible people. They’re usually grateful to connect with someone new, and it’s a wonderful opportunity to cross-pollinate friends and family from each side of the new family.When the meal is plated, and especially when there are dining choices, assigned seating saves time and makes life easier for guests and caterers alike.

At smaller events, numbering 150 guests or fewer, open seating can work well.

Make sure seating assignments are completed at least a week ahead of time, and be prepared to make last minute tweaks. It’s one of the few tasks that is hard to delegate, because no one knows the guests as well as the bride and groom.

You may choose to assign seats, or simply to assign tables and let guests seat themselves.

Decide on the placement of the head table first, then build around it.

Traditionally, the bride and groom sit at the head table along with members of the wedding party, and perhaps their dates as well. This table is often on one side of the room, overlooking the party. The parents and grandparents of the couple are seated together at a nearby table.

Alternate choices abound. Some head tables are composed of the bride and groom along with their parents and family members, and some couples choose a sweetheart table–just the two of them together. Also, some parties prefer to place the head table in the middle of the room, for better access to all the guests.

You might not be offering every guest the chance to bring a plus-one, but extending that consideration to guests who don’t know anyone at the event will make them much more comfortable.

While it may be tempting to put all the “singles” together at one table, this can be awkward: weddings are a place singles may be extra self-conscious about their status.

If you’re offering a cocktail party or buffet with just a few tables, guests can roam, mingle and eat. Consider the special needs of elderly guests or guests with children, and make sure they have a place to settle down.

While devoting energy to arranging the seating is worthwhile, don’t overthink this game of musical chairs. Before and after the meal, it will mostly be mobile mingling, so everyone should have a chance to connect with the friends and family they’re excited to see, even if they weren’t placed at the same table. Bright Beautiful Wedding Day!

A bright beautiful wedding day! An amazing Minnesota fall day for a wedding.

What more could you ask for… everything was just the way it was planned, nice!

A wonderful outdoor wedding ceremony, surrounded by family and friends was amazing on the Grand Promenade. With beautiful music and the sun shining, all attendees celebrated Sunny and Brian’s love. The whole ceremony was captured by the GoPro camera on their dog’s back… now there’s a cool point of view… The animal theme continued inside the gorgeously appointed tent with all seating assignments grouped by animals… made for a great way to release tables for dinner. Everyone enjoyed the lawn games and hanging out by the fire… Dancing late into the evening!

Here comes the sun… and it’s all right!

Well, more then all right, it was down right super duper!

Everyone that has ever been part of a wedding knows the amount of time and planning that goes into making the day special and unique… that was no different for Autumn and Todd! Over the last year Todd has photographed every angle of The Gardens… and more then once. So when it was time for the big day everything was just the way they wanted it!
